We the Sellers!

Skwigglers'... Is it Time to Find a New Place to Sell Your Work? Here are Three!

The last few days, I have been hearing more and more that everyone is ready for a new sellers website. Maybe just some options. There has been some great communication on the message board on the discussion ANOTHER SITE TO SELL YOUR ART . So, I decided to investigate the three that I have heard about the most.

Ekaweeka
Ekaweeka is a small business community which was established by two friends in November of 06. The idea behind this site is to have it be all in one. You have your own shop which you can customize on your own, as well as networking and commerce. They even have an area where you can add your own blog. Now, I am not sure how the payment structure works because I honestly cannot find out how we pay Ekaweeka, but after looking at the blog EkaBlog, it appears to be no charge.

iCraft.ca
I have to say, I really love this site! The main page look professional, but creative. They have a community to join into and there is even a "Live Help" button on the main page. The way that they show their new arrivals is very nice looking. There is of course the issue of "New Arrivals" being on the main page, but I have come to terms with the fact that sellers sites will generally always show new arrivals on their main page (although I would love to see sites showing the items that have not sold) Below is the "About Us" section. Please note that this information comes directly from the iCraft.ca website

"We know that everyone has a creative side. But not everyone is able to showcase their work to the world. That's where we come in. Based in Toronto, ON, iCraft.ca exists to connect artists, designers and craftspeople to those who appreciate their work. All creators of unique, one-of-a-kind items, can take advantage of the powerful marketing services offered."

"Visitors to the site can browse collections, and have the ability to contact creators directly with questions or requests. Creators have the option of showcasing their ready-made merchandise online, and accept requests for custom orders or commissioned work."

"A wealth of content intended to inspire and educate is offered to our Community Members - articles, regularly updated message boards, online classes and much more. Community Members are encouraged to submit original articles, photographs and event announcements to the site, and connect with other local and international Members."

"Your passion and creativity is what drives us. And we believe in the power and influence of community. That's why we are here. Express who you are, and share it with the world."

TheIndieGo
Okay, this site is really cool because selling is completely free as long as you advertise other members.

"The way this works is that everybody inserts an "ad rotation" on their site, which will display a random ad coming from one of our members. In return, your ad will be shown across those sites as well"

Really, what more can I say, take a look for youself, and if you wouldn't mind, leave us a comment and let us know how it goes so we can all get some real opinions on each site.

I hope this was helpful! Please don't forget to let us all know how it went and which one you liked the best etc.

Thanks!

Ok, I don't know about you, but when I found out that I was pregnant, no only was I clueless on what to do with pregnancy, much less a baby, I COMPLETLY FREAKED! I mean, I actually was in shock! In one fell swoop, everything changed. It's one of those moments in life, where your whole life changes in an instant. Within the first 5 minutes of looking at the stick and seeing those 2 lines, I got the lecture. AND then another lecture. No more coffee, lay down, relax more, no more of this and no more of that. Your gonna have to stop drinking so much coke, you need more of this and that... I got books, AND then more books. I got one of those journals that tells you what is going to happen to your body each and everyday for the next 9 months, not to mention the next 18 years. Can you tell that I was a bit OVERWHELMED? I mean, I like Coke, and I love Coffee.

Ok, well anyway. When my little (5 lb 8 oz) baby girl came, Ohh I was in LOVE. She was so freakin' cute! Really, WAY better than a puppy! We had visitors, and with the visitors came more advice and some really cute things! Cute blanks, hats, and books. As my little girl slept, I looked all of the great things that people brought for the baby. In the midst of it all, Behold A MOMMY BOOK!

Its got fairy tales, poetry, nursery rhymes, stories, activities games and recopies. Seriously, its one of the greatest books EVER! I reference it for fun things to read and sometimes, I just read it. This is a great find for a new "clueless" mommy. This one is a jem.

My Kool Findz Number 99 is one that I found about a year ago. This is another example of a company that was established by two mothers. Looking for a ring that could be engraved with her children's names,Lizzy called a friend Nelle that was an experienced designer, and together, they created a perfectly elegantproduct. Go in and take a look. For a year now, I wear two rings, the wedding ring on my left hand for my husband, and a ring on my right hand, engraved with my daughters name. It was exactly what I had been looking for!

Never Underestimate the Determination of a Mother!

The new Kountdown starts today, January 24th, 2008 (Because Why Not Today) My first Kool Finds is the Etsy for Charity Network. They have a Charity of the Month tab, which will give you specific details for that specific Charity. There is also links inside that page that will take you directly to the charities site. I am signed up and I would love to think of some different ways to help. I would love if we as a group could come up with a few ideas of how we could join in. This is such a great cause.
